The standard does not apply to advertising and required information that is regulated by the guidelines of various transport service providers, such as the postal services, the rail services or by individual countries. Adherence to such standards should ensure uniform marking of the packages to be shipped. Part 1 of the current DIN standard 55 402 entitled "Shipping marks for packages" describes the pictorial markings for the handling of goods, and Part 2 provides a directive for export packaging.
